... in books

Tomorrow the new semester starts here in Vienna and I am really excited because I plan to attend a course titled “Of wizards, vampires, and whimpy kids: Literature in English for young readers” and will deal with children’s literature – hence the title.

The reading list for this course was posted online today and we need to read thirteen books for this course which are a lot but on the other hand some really wonderful books are on this list and those that I know or have heard of are real must-reads. So during this semester (from tomorrow till the end of June) I will read some serious classics of children literature and I am really looking forward to it.

Here is the reading list for all of you who are interested:
  • Little Women by Louisa Mae Alcott
  • Good Wives by Louisa Mae Alcott
  • The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
  • Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
  • Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
  • Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
  • Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
  • Silverfin by Charlie Higson
  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
  • War Horse by Michael Morpurgo
  • Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling
  • When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
One other positive aspect is that I, as a book buying slut, have some books already at home.

These are:
Little Women and Good Wives by Louisa Mae Alcott, Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling.

So I only need to buy the others but these aren’t cheap either so a huge amount of my semester start budget will be used on buying books – yeah!
