...in books

Review
At Last
by Jill Shalvis

At Last is book 5 in the Lucky Harbor series and
I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before reading this one.
Otherwise you will spoil yourself.

First sentences:
I'm not lost,” Amy Michaels said to the squirrel watching her from his perch on a tree branch.

Summary:
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.
A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

My opinion:
Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbour series is my favorite adult romance novel series; and I'm usually careful with using the term favorite. At Last is the fifth book in the series and the main characters are Amy Michaels and Matt Bower whom we previously met as side characters in Lucky in Love.

Amy is a waitress in the local diner and pretty careful with people. She is more of a loner and likes her life that way. Opening up to others isn't her strong point until she arrives in Lucky Harbor where she is basically forced to be part of a community. She found friends in Mallory and Grace, two other chocolate loving girls with whom she can gossip and talk about guys but really talking about her problems and fears is something super difficult for Amy.

Matt, a former cop and now forest ranger in Lucky Harbor, is also more of an introverted kind of guy but something about Amy makes him feel again and at the beginning he isn't quite sure if that's a good thing or not.

With Matt trying to get Amy to open up to people and especially to him and Amy fighting and denying her attraction to the hot ranger a wonderful love story develops and we once again have a lovely Lucky Harbor novel that I could hardly put down.
